　　名声大噪的神枪手翰（简·拉塞尔 Jane Russell 饰）被州长从牢狱里奥秘放出，作为获得赦宥的条件，简接管了一项卧底使命。她要前往迪尔费尔德保找一个名叫吉姆的汉子，与他假扮成夫妻，奥秘接近不法倒卖军械的印第安人。可是，当简到达了目标地后才发现，吉姆早已经表露了身份，遭到了杀戮，这也就意味着她的身份也曝光了，果不其然，简很快就遭到了仇敌的追杀。
　　
　　在误打误撞当中，简跳上了牙医波特（鲍勃·霍普 Bob Hope 饰）的马车，不忍心看到标致的姑娘流浪，波特决议向简伸出援手。终极，两人不但躲过了追杀，拘系了罪犯，还在此进程中碰撞出了恋爱的火花。
